Académie Lafayette

K-8 French Language Immersion, Charter Public School

Curriculum Overview

FriendsAcadémie Lafayette's mission is to bring together a diverse community of students and an international teaching staff to develop critical thinkers, global citizens and engaged learners through immerison in the Francophone culture.

Our curriculum is based on these principles, yet follows the guidelines established by the state of Missouri. Our subjects and content areas match any other school in the state. Our method of delivery is what makes us unique.

Each subject, including math, science, social studies, art and physical education are taught in French. However, students do receive 30-50 minutes of English language instruction per day. As a public school, students take the Standford Achievement Test starting in the 2nd grade and the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) test starting in the 3rd grade. Even though students are taught in French, they are required to take these assessment tests in English. This method has proven extremely successful.
