What are the STARS?

The Academie Lafayette STARS is the new cheerleading and dance team at Academie Lafayette. Our goals are to improve school spirit as we learn dance techniques and cheer skills.

Each week, we will incorporate all parts - dance, cheer, and tumble in every practice. All STARS will go home with a conditioning chart each week, as well as practice sheet to remind them what we did that day and what to remember for the next week.

Once we get out t-shirts and shorts ordered, all members should bring their clothes to change into before practice. Before that, please make sure they wear clothing that they can move in - and shorts whould be worn under skirts. Long hair should be pulled away from face and sneakers should be worn - they will not be allowed to practice with bare feet.

Below is a list of the dates we will have rehearsal. Please not that there is no practice on the 18th of November, even though school is in session. There will be a short show at 4:45 on December 16th to showcase all that we have learned.

Skills - We will work on strength and flexibility as well as learning and memorizing choeography and proper technique and execution of moves.

Training - In order to maximize our lessons and gain the most from this activity, we will learn discipline as we give respect to our coach, our team and ourselves.

Assurance - We will learn to believe in ourselves and our ability to learn new things. We will speak up through our words and our actions.

Responsibility - It is our jobs to practice at home and do our conditioning, as well as make sure we attend all rehearsals.

Spirit - Finally, we are here to have fun - but also to encourage others to believe in themselves and have fun, too.
