She has lived in Kansas City most of her life and traveled extensively throughout the United States. Yet she has yet to get her passport! She first began teaching elementary school students in the inner city after working her way through UMKC (restaurants, bartending, childcare). She worked for the Kansas City Missouri School District for six years before obtaining her master's degree, getting married and starting a family. She left the district for St. Peter’s catholic school for two years before arriving at Academie Lafayette. Her daughter attends Academie Lafayette and will graduate in 2015. Mme. Hopewell knows that she will have to get a passport soon because this school is "taking us places!" |

Mme. Hopewell loves teaching because it allows her to wear many hats. As a teacher she gets to work and play and work and share a passion. Her passion is a good book or magazine as she loves to read. At Academie Lafayette, she instills a lifelong love of reading in many children. Mme. Hopewell feels very fortunate to work in a multicultural environment.
