Welcome & Bienvenue

My name is Elimane Mbengue and I am the Head of the School for Académie Lafayette. We have successfully opened a second, a third campus, added a third language for our middle school students, conducted a major Capital Campaign, built a six-classroom addition at our Cherry campus and replaced our aging heating system at the Oak campus since my arrival in 2012. Since 2012 we have implemented the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme for our middle school, built a secure entry and an office addition for the Oak campus. We have enriched our Académie Lafayette community when we opened our High School in the Fall of 2020. Our relentless focus is to provide a world-class education for our students so that they are prepared to be our global leaders as well as the change agents to the world.

The forward-thinking parents, faculty, staff, and the Académie Lafayette community work together to strengthen and dedicate their time to serve our school and our students as we tackle new ventures that make Académie Lafayette Community one of the top charter schools in Kansas City, Missouri.

There is a spirit of generosity that surrounds our Académie Lafayette community. Every year I am more and more amazed at the generosity of our families who give so much of their time volunteering by sharing their talents on the PTO, the Evening in Paris gala committee, or for special school initiatives, such as reading intervention. Over the years our families have given pop-tops for Ronald McDonald House, medical supplies for a clinic in Jamaica, food for Harvesters, socks and mittens for Veterans, and coins for the Kansas City Medicine Cabinet and so much more. Our families get involved, lend a hand simply to do their part to ensure that Académie Lafayette continues to be a thriving school community for our students.
