IB Middle Years Program (MYP)
The International Baccalaureate® (IB)
The International Baccalaureate® (IB) is a non-profit educational foundation that started in 1968. There are well over 1,000,000 IB students around the world experiencing its programs. At the heart of IB is a mission ”to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.” Through its success overtime, the IB has developed a reputation for quality, high standards, and pedagogical leadership.
IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) at Académie Lafayette
MYP students all over the world strive to demonstrate the attributes of the IB Learner Profile, develop Approaches to Learning skills, participate in Service as Action, and study the eight required subjects of Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Mathematics, Sciences, the Arts, Design, and Physical Education and Health.
In 2017, Académie Lafayette became an authorized IB World School and began implementation of the MYP in grades 6 through 8. In 2020, Académie Lafayette committed to expanding the MYP to include all five years of the Programme when it opened Académie Lafayette International High School. Now, at the end of grade 10, students have the opportunity to earn the MYP Certificate of Achievement by successfully completing MYP coursework, the Personal Project, and Service as Action reflections, which measure students’ skills against a set of international performance standards.
