About COVID-19
The following are additional helpful resources in understanding and talking about COVID-19, but please don’t hesitate to reach out to our school social workers if you feel your child needs additional support:
- General information from the CDC
- Talking to children about COVID-19:
- Our AL social workers’ website
Please submit your student’s vaccination information using the form below.
We now allow fully vaccinated parents or grandparents to once again volunteer in person. Interested parties must fill out the surveys below. The nurses will verify the information submitted. Teachers will only be provided the names and contact information of individuals who have completed the survey. When a volunteer opportunity arises, people on the provided list will be contacted to inquire about their availability. Volunteers must wear a properly fitting mask covering their nose and mouth the entire time they are in the building.
ESSER III Community Input – See below for survey link.
COVID-19 Testing Information
- In the event of a positive pool, the Concentric staff will return to our buildings on Thursday mornings and collect Antigen tests on all students or staff who were in that positive pool. These tests take 15 minutes to complete and are conducted in a very similar manner to the pool testing samples, with a brief nasal swab. If all antigen tests are negative, the pool will then be given a PCR test to confirm the negative results. Students may continue to report to class until the positive case is identified. Once a positive case is identified, the nursing staff will determine necessary quarantine measures for close contacts.
- Families of students in a positive pool will be notified as soon as possible by our nursing staff using the email on file.
- We will notify families who were in a POSITIVE pool by email as soon as possible.
- We will not do mass notifications of negative pools.
- With a few exceptions, all consented participants will be tested every Tuesday. The exceptions to this schedule will be weeks when we do not have school later in the week such as Tuesday October 12, and the week of Thanksgiving (Tuesday November 23rd). Without having our students and staff in school, there would be no way to provide the necessary follow up testing on any potentially positive pools.
- We strongly encourage our families to use the system in place to avoid unnecessary time out of school, however, you may choose to do follow up testing with the healthcare provider of your choice. You should not use an at-home test as a follow-up test. Follow-up testing from a positive pool must be administered by a healthcare provider.
- We make every attempt to separate pools by classroom, however in the event that a particular class does not have at least 5 participants, that group of students will be added to another pool.
- Yes! You may consent to participating in this testing program at any time by completing the consent form on the Concentric website. Your child will be consented to participate in this program until or unless you revoke that consent.
- See consent information to the right.
- Consents received after midnight on Sunday into Monday may not be tested that Tuesday, but will be included in the following week’s pools.
- Yes! You can opt out of testing by emailing your school nurse and asking her to delete your consent going forward:

- Pool testing will be done on a weekly basis each TUESDAY. Generally, we receive the majority of our results back within 12 hours, and all of the results back within 36 hours.
- Follow-up antigen testing on any positive pools will be administered at school that Thursday. Students in a positive pool are not required to stay home until the positive case has been identified. Only the positive case and any close contacts will then be required to isolate or quarantine. Detailed information about returning to school after isolation or quarantine will be provided to the families at that time.

COVID-19 Dashboard
To best protect the privacy of our community, we will not differentiate between cases among students and cases among staff members. You will find below the data for new cases and new quarantines by week.
Cases (on-going)
The table to the right indicates the number of fully vaccinated AL students and staff who were close contacts to a positive case but were not required to quarantine because they have submitted proof of vaccination to the school.
Per the CDC: “People who are fully vaccinated do NOT need to quarantine after contact with someone who had COVID-19 unless they have symptoms.

Distance Learning at Académie Lafayette
This section contains teacher websites and resources, schedules, tutorial videos, and expectations for online learning.
All of our students have an Académie Lafayette email through Gmail.com. It is generally the first letter of their first name followed by their last name @academielafayette.org. For example, Jane Doe would be jdoe@academielafayette.org.
If you need assistance with your child’s login credentials, email your child’s homeroom teacher.
More FAQs & Current Logistics
Teachers have daily online office hours for children who have questions or need additional help.
Courses are recorded and/or live depending on subjects and put on Google Classroom for students in grades 1–9. Grades K uses a different platform. Parents will receive more information from their children’s homeroom teachers.
If you need a Chromebook, please fill out the technology waitlist form on the side.
