Cross country (XC) occurs in the fall and is open to all 6th–8th grade students.
The AL middle school cross country (XC) team is open to 6th–8th grade boys and girls. All are welcome! There are no try-outs. We are actively seeking diversity in growing our running family. We focus on heads, hearts, and health, and safety. Race distances will vary from 1–2 miles. During this time of uncertainty, we will follow guidelines of our CDC, health department, city, school and state school athletics associations in Missouri and Kansas. We will have strict safety protocols in place for practices and meets. Please be patient as we roll out information. Check back here often for updates, see the calendar for dates and the Helpful Documents section (at right) for home workout guidance. We encourage our kids to start their home workouts now. Our first invitational is tentatively scheduled for September 12, 2020.
The entire goal of XC is to social distance (run away) from other people as fast as you can! We will need full cooperation from our kids and parents to make this season happen for the physical and mental health benefits which are so needed at this time. We are starting with online registration below and with our kids doing home workouts until we get the “all clear” from our school to start in-person practices. We must all remain adaptable and flexible and, above all, positive! Let’s do this!
(4th and 5th grade XC training will start after school begins. More details to come.)
